Welcome to IPIN 2019!

Welcome to the Tenth International conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation and the sixth IPIN Competition in Pisa, Italy, Palazzo dei Congressi. Launched in 2010 in Zurich, Switzerland, IPIN is a unique event entirely dedicated to indoor localisation, its applications and its development.

Pisa is a university town in Tuscany, with a population of about 90 000 and over 40 000 students, not far from the coast and the wonderful Florence, Lucca and Siena. Pisa, well-known for the leaning tower, is a small town: its ancient centre is roughly in the shape of a square surrounded by 12th-century walls, with sides measuring 1.5 km, and the airport is at walking distance.

IPIN 2019 received 153 contributions as Regular Paper and 24 as Work-in-Progress paper. After the review process, 82 papers were accepted as RP, for oral presentation and submission to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, while 61 were accepted as WiP, for poster presentation and submission to CEUR Workshop Proceedings (indexed by Scopus, Ei Compendex and DBLP). Selected WiP papers are orally presented during the parallel sessions.

IPIN hosts 15 competitors for the 2 on-site Competition Tracks and 25 competitors for the 3 off-site ones; a Tutorial, a Workshop, three Keynotes from renowned experts and 21 Parallel Sessions plus two Special Sessions make up the scientific offering of the conference. Authors have the opportunity of submitting extended versions of their papers for review to the MDPI Sensors special issue "Sensors and Sensing Technologies for Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation" and to an IPIN special peer reviewed track of Springer's Journal of Reliable Intelligent Environment.

An important purpose of attending a scientific conference is to build your network: with about 250 attendees from academy and industry, a Welcome Cocktail, a City Sightseeing Tour and a Social Dinner, IPIN is bound to help you widen your social universe.

Technical sponsors are IEEE and several IEEE Societies, Sections and Chapters. Prizes are awarded for Best Paper, Best Student Paper, Best Poster and winners of the 5 competition Tracks, thanks to financial sponsorhip by several companies. All local organisers are with CNR, the Italian National Research Council. Thanks to all the TPC members, who provided a total of 479 paper reviews in one month's time; to all the members of Committees; and thanks to all the attendees, who are the heart of IPIN. Hope you enjoy IPIN 2019 and the historic town of Pisa.
