Paper submission

Manuscripts must be submitted on the IPIN 2023 submission page according to the following instructions and the deadlines shown in the side box. Deadlines are intended at 23:59 AoE.

IPIN 2023 has a single-stage submission and peer review process with two types of submissions (Note that your decision is final, i.e., papers cannot be transferred between the two tracks. However, authors of rejected regular papers will get the opportunity to resubmit their paper as a WiP paper for a second round with an quick turn-around review process):

  • Regular Papers: limited to 6 IEEE format pages (including references), oral presentation is required. Note that, prospective authors are invited to submit 6-page, original and unpublished full papers (IEEE format). After acceptance and successful revision, a full paper may be up to 8 pages long. However, please note that papers longer than 6 pages will incur additional page fees (per page) at the time of registration and final submission of the work. Please do not submit any paper longer than 6 pages for initial review

Program Committee/TPCs: Joaquín Torres Sospedra, University of Minho, Portugal; Tobias Feigl, Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (GER); Stefan Knauth, Hochschule für Technik Stuttgart (GER); Christopher Mutschler, Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (GER)

  • Work-in-Progress (WiP): between 5-16 CEUR-WS single-column pages, poster presentation is required, oral presentation may be required

Program Committee/Editors: Susanna Kaiser, German Aerospace Center (GER); Norbert Franke, Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (GER); Christopher Mutschler, Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (GER)

Word and LaTex Templates are available for IEEE format and CEUR-WS format .

Papers undergo a single-blind review process by at least two reviewers. Accepted regular papers are submitted to IEEE Xplore Digital Library, while accepted WiP papers are submitted to CEUR-WS.org, which is currently indexed by Scopus, Ei Compendex and DBLP.

After a paper is accepted, minor revisions may be requested; if this is the case, authors are required to apply them for the final camera ready submission.

Important
  • Authors presenting more than one paper per full registration are required to pay an additional fee per paper
  • Regular papers whose authors do not show up at the conference are removed from the IEEE Xplore Digital Library
  • Work-in-Progress papers whose authors do not show up at the conference are removed from the CEUR-WS.org database

Preparing your camera-ready Regular Paper

Regular papers must be submitted electronically in PDF format. They must be written in English according to the IEEE submission template and formatting guidelines, must include author names and affiliations on the front page and the conference header on all pages.

Accepted papers must fully comply with the IEEE conference format for the final camera-ready submission. To ensure compliance, PDF manuscripts must pass the check against IEEE PDF eXpress. Papers that fail the check or exceed the page limit may be rejected without further review.

Important: YOU MUST check your PDF for conformance with IEEE format before uploading. In order to do that, first login to the IEEE PDF eXpress site: HERE .

  • First-time users should enter 57070X as the Conference ID and fill in the required info.
  • Previous users should just login using their credentials and verify that their contact info is up to date.
  • Please proofread your source document thoroughly to confirm that it will require no revision. Then, submit it to the IEEE PDF eXpress site to generate the PDF with the check mark.
  • Once you have completed all the steps above, please submit the PDF generated by IEEE PDF eXpress, i.e., the PDF after passing all the checks at the SOFTCONF platform: final submission page .

Papers that fail the check, do not include IEEE PDF eXpress check mark or exceed the page limit may be rejected without further review. Any changes made to a PDF after IEEE PDF eXpress conversion or PDF Checking may invalidate Xplore compatibility. This includes headers, page numbers, copyright notice, watermarks, etc. If any of these elements are desired, they should be added to the document before a PDF is created.

Here is a checklist for submitting your camera-ready Regular Paper manuscript:

    • Modify your manuscript (if necessary) following the reviewers' recommendations
    • Check that your paper does not exceed the page limit
    • Check that you are using A4 page size
    • Apply the instructions for adding the conference header
    • ATTENTION: if you use the IEEE WORD template, please delete the XXX-X-XXXX-XXXX-X/XX/$XX.00 ©20XX IEEE in the footnote of the first page!
    • Do not apply page numbers
    • Go to the final submission page : you will find instructions to create the IEEE copyright form and check your paper through the IEEE PDF eXpress service (Conference ID: 57070X)
    • Fill out the export control compliance form using the information of your submission
    • Upload the completed copyright form, the export control compliance form, and the checked paper
    Adding the conference header

The conference header should appear on all pages. The text is as follows, on a single centred line:
2023 13th International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN)

    For LaTeX users:

    • Be sure to use the conference class:

      				\documentclass[conference,a4paper]{IEEEtran}

    • Add the following code near the top of the LaTeX source, before \begin{document}:

      				\makeatletter
      				\let\old@ps@headings\ps@headings
      				\let\old@ps@IEEEtitlepagestyle\ps@IEEEtitlepagestyle
      				\def\confheader#1{%
% for all pages except the first
      				\def\ps@headings{%
      				\old@ps@headings%
      				\def\@oddhead{\strut\hfill#1\hfill\strut}%
      				\def\@evenhead{\strut\hfill#1\hfill\strut}%
      				}%
      				% for the first page
      				\def\ps@IEEEtitlepagestyle{%
      				\old@ps@IEEEtitlepagestyle%
      				\def\@oddhead{\strut\hfill#1\hfill\strut}%
      				\def\@evenhead{\strut\hfill#1\hfill\strut}%
      				}%
      				\ps@headings%
      				}
      				\makeatother
      				\confheader{%
      				2023 13th International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN)}

    Preparing your camera-ready Work-in-Progress paper

WiP papers are submitted to CEUR-WS.org, which is currently indexed by Scopus, Ei Compendex and DBLP. You should ensure that you follow the CEUR-WS format for 1-column paper style when preparing and uploading the final camera-ready version of your submission. Your paper should be no less than 5 and no more than 16 pages long in A4 format. Further details about "How to submit your WiP Paper" can be found here .

Here is a checklist for submitting your camera-ready Work-in-Progress manuscript:

    • Modify your manuscript (if necessary) following the reviewers' recommendations
    • Check that your paper is no shorter than 5 and no longer than 16 pages
    • Check that you are using A4 page size
    • Please make sure that you follow the CEUR-WS format for 1-column paper style
    • LaTeX/Word: Please make sure that the copyright year within the footnote on the first page is 2023
    • Complete the copyright transfer form, sign it and scan it. Please, include "Susanna Kaiser, Norbert Franke, and Christopher Mutschler" as editors and “Proceedings of the Work-in-Progress Papers at the 13th International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN-WiP 2023)” as name and year of the event. Note that, there are two different variants: (1) AUTHOR-AGREEMENT (NTP): Authors shall use this form IF they INCLUDE NO COPYRIGHTED third party MATERIAL in their paper text (or accompanying sources, datasets). This is the right variant in most cases. (2) AUTHOR-AGREEMENT (TP): Authors shall use this form IF they DID INCLUDE COPYRIGHTED third party MATERIAL in their paper or accompanying material. They MUST then also ATTACH a copy of the PERMISSION by the third party to use this material in the signed author agreement!
    • Fill out the export control compliance form using the information of your submission
    • On the final submission page upload the completed copyright form, the export control compliance form, and the checked paper
    Add the Conference details

The conference details should appear on the first page. The text is as follows:
